Coronavirus: Jalandhar reports 100 new +ve cases and 3 new deaths

Punjab: The total number of coronavirus cases in Jalandhar has increased to 2744 after 100 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the death toll in the state has also increased to 63 after 3 new deaths were reported from the district on Wednesday.

According to the media bulletin issued on Tuesday, Jalandhar had 788 active cases, 1796 have been cured and discharged. On Tuesday, Jalandhar reported 34 new cases while 5 people died due to the pandemic yesterday. A total of 63 COVID patients in Jalandhar were declared cured and recovered on Tuesday.

The coronavirus cases in Punjab have been rising, however, Punjab on Tuesday posted the lowest Covid-19 positivity rate of 3.10 percent in India. The national average stood at 8.89 percent.

Only four states in India that include Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have so far managed a COVID positive rate of less than 5 percent while 28 states and UTs have a positivity rate below 10 percent.

Punjab on Tuesday reported 20 new deaths out of which 7 were reported from Ludhiana, 5 from Jalandhar and Patiala each, and one each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, and Sangrur.
