The Federation of UT Employees and Workers organised a protest on Tuesday in Sector 17 to call for the reinstatement of pensions, the regularisation of contract employees who have been outsourced, and the filling of open positions.

Employees from the central and provincial governments commemorated All-India Resistance Day to protest the growing privatisation and contempt for their demands.

Protesters delivered a memorandum to the sub-divisional magistrate, under the direction of federation chairperson Raghbir Chand, that was addressed to the Prime Minister and the UT administration and urged for negotiations to resolve their concerns.

At the protest were Subhash Lamba, president of the All India State Government Employees Federation, ND Tiwari, Gopal Dutt Joshi, and Rajendra Katoch, a member of the NEC.

According to Subhash Lamba, the extensive migration of Central and state employees has made problems like the reinstatement of an outdated pension plan, the regularisation of contract workers who have been outsourced, and the filling of vacant positions political hot buttons. He forewarned that any political party that ignored these concerns would suffer at the polls.
