On June 26, expect heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in Punjab.

From June 25 to 26, Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph.

"Heavy rainfall at isolated locations with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed 40-50kmph) very likely over Punjab and Haryana primarily from June 25 to June 26, 2023," said an official press release on Sunday. The Southwest Monsoon advanced into some parts of Haryana on June 25, according to the India Meteorological Department in Chandigarh.

The Southwest Monsoon was also forecast to move into Haryana and Punjab in the next two days.

"Conditions are favourable for further Southwest Monsoon advance into some additional parts of Haryana and Punjab over the next two days," it added.

From June 25 to June 28, the official forecast predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers in various areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

"Light to Moderate Rain/Thundershowers are very likely at many to most places over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from the 25th to the 28th of June 2023," the release added.

Thunderstorms were also predicted for June 25 and 26. It also predicted thundershowers and high winds of 40-50 kmph in isolated locations across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on June 25 and 26. Furthermore, heavy rain was predicted to fall on June 25 and 26 in isolated areas across Punjab and Haryana, according to the official notification.

Farmers are encouraged to store harvested crops.

Farmers have been advised to stop irrigating their fields and to store harvested crops.

"Farmers are advised to withhold Irrigation/Fertilizer due to the forecast of thundershowers/strong winds/in the coming days." To avoid losses, harvested crops should be stored in secure locations.

Stay indoors during thunderstorms.

The detailed advisory also cautioned against going outside during thunderstorms.
